The GCFFC supports the Wildlife Trafficking initiative led by the Global Initiative to End Wildlife Crime seeking to create a 4th protocol to the UN Transnational Organised Crime Convention (Palermo). For more details see the End Wildlife Crime home page.  This initiative is led by John Scanlon

Chair

John Scanlon

John Scanlon is the former CITES Secretary-General (2010-2018), and led global efforts against wildlife trafficking.  With a diverse career spanning public and private sectors, including roles with IUCN, the UN, and environmental projects in several countries, John was Chief Executive of South Australia’s Department of Environment, Heritage, and Aboriginal Affairs. He now works with African Parks, fostering transformative partnerships and outreach. He has also served as Chair of the Global Initiative to End Wildlife Crime since its launch in June 2020
